Words alone will never truly describe my love for “Tales from the Crypt.” None But The Lonely Heart is what one will expect from a “Tales from the Crypt” episode: A mean-spirited plot, loads of murders, a macabre tone, ghoulish monsters, gore and terrific makeup effects, which you can see from the picture. This episode (directed by Tom Hanks and who makes a cameo) is about a young, smooth talking and charming con artist who romances lonely old women of means, marries them and bumps them off, stealing their fortunes. However as he is wooing his last big score he finds out that someone knows what he has been doing and so many murders take place in the wake of that. As the con artist thinks he has gotten rid of his would be blackmailer he soon discovers that “they” cannot die without him and they’ve been waiting for him and manipulating him the whole time. What’s great about this episode is that you’re convinced this is more of a macabre-crime episode and then at the end it takes a hard right turn into ghoulish supernatural horror. Overall it’s a dark little episode and one of the good ones from Season 4.
